Enzo and his challenge with Leukaemia

Little Enzo loves nothing more than sitting in his Metro buggy, giggling at dogs, pointing at street signs and waving at buses.  Read more about Enzo and his challenge with Leukaemia.

The monumental challenge we’re facing every hour of every day, is living with the fact our baby boy Enzo has a rare type of infant leukaemia. He was diagnosed a week before his 1st birthday, in November 2018. Infant leukemia behaves differently to the more common childhood leukaemia. It’s harder to treat, typically resistant to chemo and unfortunately hasn’t experienced the amazing improvements in survival rates seen in other areas of childhood cancer.

Life at the moment is full on and it’s hard to put into words how much our little boy has had to endure. He’s had more than 170 doses of chemotherapy, spent 120 days and nights in hospital (all in isolation), 80 home nurse visits, 28 unplanned trips to hospital when at home and 30 blood and platelet transfusions.

Since life is unpredictable, we need to be able to move Enzo A to B quickly and safely. Having the Ergobaby Metro stroller means we can make smooth journeys to hospital (it folds up so neatly in our car boot and can be unfolded with a baby in the other arm), which is vital when you have a poorly passenger. It also has given us the motivation and confidence to go and explore our local area as a family. New experiences are so important for young children, and leukaemia can be very isolating due to infection control measures. Enzo loves nothing more than sitting in his buggy, giggling at dogs, pointing at street signs and waving at buses.

Thank you for enhancing our lives and giving us the courage to keep living it to the full.

Lots of love,
Rosie, Ant and Enzo xxx
