Every body is beautiful in its uniqueness and very individual shape. And we don’t just mean small and tall or petite and strong. No! You’ve probably already noticed the incredible variety that nature produces in us humans: male, female, transgender, non-binary, long or short torso, broad or narrow shoulders, much or little waist, large or small chest, narrow or broad pelvis – we could go on forever… That’s why one of the most amazing things about our baby carriers is that they are suitable for almost every baby and every body type. That’s because at Ergobaby, we make it a point to ensure that parents and babies of all shapes and sizes feel comfortable and safe when using our products.
Whether it’s the shoulder straps or waistbelt: everything can be adjusted from XS to XXL
Unequal pairs are not that rare, and that’s why parents with different statures often wonder whether the same baby carrier can fit them at all. The answer is quite clearly: Yes! Because the waistbelt of the Ergobaby baby carriers can be individually adjusted to your size and width, just like the shoulder straps and the connecting chest strap. We recommend that petite parents, for example, wear the shoulder straps crossed over as many find this more comfortable.
How to find the individual setting for your baby carrier
Once you have found your perfect setting, you can keep these settings by simply putting the carrier on using the T-shirt method (check out our social media pages or you tube). But what happens if the baby carrier is used by more than one person in everyday life? We have a few practical tips that will make it easier for you to change between users:
– Mark the connecting chest strap: As you loosen and tighten the shoulder straps anyway and the waistbelt can be easily changed between users, the chest strap is the only one you end up adjusting to your size. If you mark where it needs to sit for the perfect position, in the middle of your shoulder blades, you can adjust the strap before putting it on. This makes the carrier easy to put on without needing any help. If you wear the shoulder straps crossed over, you don’t have to worry about this.
– The mirror check before you leave the house: As your baby grows, you should check in the mirror at regular intervals just to make sure the chest strap is still correctly positioned between the shoulder blades. That way you can avoid the chest strap getting too high and avoid experiencing any neck pain!
– Don’t worry: Even though the belt that wraps around your body is called a waistbelt, it is actually worn on your body where baby is close enough to kiss the top of their head. For example, if a large baby is carried by a small person and you want to get the right height for your baby, the waistbelt will sit more on the hip than on someone with a long torso carrying the same baby. Or for a newborn, the carrier is often worn higher up your body (not on your waist) so it’s positioned on your body so you are close enough to kiss the top of babies head.
