Congratulations! You've almost made it through the first year with your little miracle. With all the ups and downs. We know how quick it goes! Perhaps they are already taking their first steps. Or maybe they need a few more months? It’sall completely normal. Most children take their first free steps between the ages of 13 and 14 months, some walk much earlier and others only at 18 or 20 months. Everyone has their own pace of development. Today, let's take another look at baby milestones, focusing on 12-month baby milestones together with our midwife and expert Katrin Ritter. This concludes our blog series Baby’s developmental

Moving around is fun! Whether it's from back to tummy, turning around on your tummy or crawling around the room - your baby loves to move. Especially once they learn to crawl, probably by the end of their 7th month. They are eager to play with a wide variety of toys and are approaching their next milestone on the way to walking upright. This is because the 8-month-old baby milestones include sitting at an angle.
Most babies have mastered this by the end of their eighth month, so that they can continue to move upwards. And don't worry if your little one is not quite ready at this stage. Every baby has their own pace and develops at different speeds. However, if they aren’t yet able to turn from their back to their tummy by the end of the eighth month, this is a good reason to consult your

Summer! Finally! Many of us will be planning on taking a trip at some point this year, whether that's a long break overseas or a short trip close to home. Our UK sleep specialist Gemma Coe is a mum of two and is a certified baby and child sleep consultant. She helps families all over the world develop healthy sleep habits. Today, Gemma talks to us about getting your baby’s sleep after traveling back on track.
I'm writing this blog two days after returning from a camping trip in France with my family so it's great timing. I heeded my own advice whilst on our trip. "Try really hard not to worry about sleeping too much and just concentrate on having fun. Holidays are precious". So yes, this happened. The kids had late nights, fun nights and there was zero recognition of the bedtime routine!
That was great whilst away, suited us really well. We could eat

Autumn is here, although it’s nearly and feels like Winter! As beautiful as the yellow and brown golden leaves and snuggling up on the sofa may be - with the change of season, many parents ask themselves: Is there anything we should keep in mind now when it comes to our baby's sleep? Summer is officially holiday season! And while many are drawn to faraway places, more and more people are spending that quality time together within the UK or simply at home, within their own four walls. There’s few things more exciting than feeling your baby growing bigger and bigger in your belly. However, as they grow there is more and more weight to carry around with you - and that can be exhausting. One way to relax is to take a bath during pregnancy, with candlelight and soft music. Or perhaps you’d prefer a day at the spa to use the sauna, hot tub or even swim a few lengths. But sometimes rumours can be confusing and you might have heard some about bathing and pregnancy.
So, is it safe? Should you be worried about overheating, strain on your body, the risk of bacteria etc.? Yes and no, says our expert and midwife Katrin Ritter. In principle, there is nothing wrong with taking a bath or swimming during pregnancy and exercise is generally good for you. However, there are a few things to bear in

For all those who didn't know it yet: Baby carrying and breastfeeding/chestfeeding is an unbeatable combination. There are even studies that show that intensive physical contact between mum and baby promotes successful breastfeeding/chest feeding and that the use of a baby carrier can even outweigh the negative effects of a complicated birth or initial separation.
So if you want to breastfeed/chestfeed your baby, it is worthwhile to carry him or her as often and as close to you as possible. Especially after birth, letting your baby crawl to your breast while lying on your mother's stomach is the most important building block for starting the breastfeeding/ chest feeding relationship. The physical closeness also stimulates milk production through the release of the bonding hormone oxytocin. Of course, it's no wonder that your little one gets wind of this when you're out and about in the baby carrier and wants a sip.

When you hear terms like snake bite, flat helix, high nostril or orbital, you immediately know what it's all about? Great, then maybe this is the right blog post for you. For everyone else: The above terms refer to different piercings for the mouth, ear and nose. Since body jewellery is currently making a comeback, we wanted to take another look at the topic of piercings and answer the question: can you breastfeed with a nipple piercing? It's clear that a nose or ear stud won't get in the way. Unless your baby discovers something glittering on your face and wants to pull it (ouch!). However, this post is about nipple piercings.
So, if you have your nipples pierced and you're wondering can you breast/chestfeed with a nipple piercing in, then read on:
